WHO WE ARE

Eichendesign’s tagline is “punk rock, but sweet” and focuses on custom embroidery, ornaments, accessories and small home decor themed in books, fandoms and feminism. Mixed mediums include wood, fiber, paint, fabric and printing.

Debra grew up loving art and as a first generation college student, switched from nursing to pursue a degree in fine art. As the story goes, Deb and Brian got married, had children, etc and Debra realized that she had started to leave the art world behind. She knew something was missing, so 8 years ago, Eichendesign was founded at the kitchen table. Once the entire dining room was taken over, Eichendesign moved to the basement and finally a full studio with an industrial embroidery machine, laser cutters, a sublimation center and every type of machine any maker could think of of made in Middletown, KY.

Debra takes art and crafts seriously in Kentuckiana and currently hosts a Facebook group of nearly 14,000 members to buy and sell their crafts. The group, Handmade Mamas of Louisville, keeps us connected with local makers and also helps us stay accountable to notice up-to-date trends, business opportunities and to be a mentor to new makers.

We are inspired by pop culture, women’s rights, literature, and humor.
